Is it true?Is it necessary? Is it kind?

Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind?

Interesting words from Rumi but it may be the case that ‘the truth’ needs to be spoken—because of love rather than in spite of it. Indeed, it may well be the case that ‘kindness’ (having a ‘friendly’,‘generous’ or ‘helpful’ attitude) may be that which prevents us from our speaking the ‘necessary truth’.  Agape love (a love that’s deeper than affection) will desire the best for the object/subject [J] of that love. Speaking the truth in [agape] love (Ephesians 4:15) may well benefit the object of that love. The truth is though that ‘our’ love barely extends past the phileo stage. I speak for myself, of course.
